FAQ
Preserve your family history and experiences for generations to come. Whether for a birthday, anniversary, retirement, or memorial service, a legacy video makes a great gift for yourself or a loved one!
How do I book a session?
Select the “Book Now” tab on the upper right-hand side of the home page. Select a legacy package and request a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice for your preferred shoot date. A $500 deposit is required at the time of scheduling to secure your session. If you have a promotional code, be sure to apply it at checkout. Once we receive your deposit, you will be sent an email confirming your payment went through, and we will be in contact shortly thereafter to schedule your interview.
When is the remainder of my balance due,
and what type of payment do you accept?
After your interview date is officially booked and we have scheduled a pre-interview Zoom call, we will send you an invoice for 50% of your remaining balance, minus your $500 deposit and any promotional discount if applied. That payment is due prior to your shoot day. When your video is finished and approved, you will be invoiced for the remaining balance. Once your account is paid in full, the final video will be sent to you digitally via a Dropbox download link.
Forever Yours Legacy Videos accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, China Union Pay, JCB, Diners, CartesBancaires, Discover, Visa Electron, Maestro, and Apple Pay. We also accept Venmo and Zelle.
*Consider sharing the cost of a package with relatives
Your interview is booked. What’s next?
Once your interview is scheduled, and your deposit has been paid, you will be sent a questionnaire. We encourage you to be as detailed as possible - the information you provide will help lay the foundation for the direction of your interview. If you would like a family member, friend, or colleague to offer their input, we would be happy to send them a form as well.
My interview is just a few weeks away. How do I prepare?
A Zoom call will be scheduled for a date 1-2 weeks before your interview to give us the opportunity to get to know you better. We will discuss your questionnaire, wardrobe/makeup, and possible shoot locations around your home/office and finalize any other details of your shoot day. Plan for up to an hour for this call. We will also send you some sample questions and other materials designed to get you thinking. For virtual interviews, we will mail a webcam and microphone to you prior to your pre-interview call and review setup procedures for your shoot day.
What should I expect on my shoot day?
I will arrive with a videographer an hour before your scheduled shoot time. This will allow us the opportunity to find an appropriate shoot location and set up our equipment, which includes multiple cameras, sound and lighting. It’s best to block out 2-3 hours for the interview so we’re not rushed and can allow for a few breaks along the way. We will film some b-roll, extra video of you, in your home/office afterwards. Plan on another 45 minutes to an hour for us to break down our equipment and put any furniture back that may have been displaced for the shoot. If your interview is virtual, we will send you a link and reach out 30 minutes in advance of your interview to establish a connection and allow time to troubleshoot if needed.
How can I send photos/video clips to be used for my story?
We will email you a Dropbox link to which you can upload any images and/or video clips you would like us to use. Please be sure to clearly label each one before uploading. You can rename the files on your computer by right-clicking on the image, clicking rename, typing in the new name, and hitting enter. We will also film and/or scan any images you have onsite so that nothing leaves your possession. For more information on free mobile scanning apps and how to scan images with your iPhone or Android, please click here. For information on how to capture a scan from a printer on a Windows PC or MAC, please click here.
What if I need to reschedule my shoot?
Whether you’re sick, your work schedule changes, or something unexpected pops up, we understand things happen, and we will make every effort to reschedule your interview within a timely fashion. Please understand that booking a makeup date may vary based on the number of clients booked ahead of you at that time. We ask that you give us as much notice as possible so we can plan accordingly.
How long after my interview will I receive my edited video?
Each legacy video is customized and incorporates music, photos and video clips you provide, and b-roll filmed on location. For Individual, Corporate, and Memorial Service legacy videos, the processing time to produce and edit your story is 4-6 weeks. For Couple’s legacy videos, allow 6-8 weeks for delivery. Due to the complexity of Family Tree and Family Business legacy videos, processing time is 8-12 weeks. Please keep in mind we will not begin editing your story until we have received images/video clips from you. A delay in receiving those assets can also push back the completion time for your video.
You will receive a link to a watermarked digital preview of your video prior to final delivery. If you have requests for a few minor changes, we will do our best to accommodate them. Any requests that require a musical track or major scene change will incur fees ranging from $100 to $250, depending on the complexity of the edit and the time required to make the changes. The final version of your video(s) will be digitally delivered.
I have decided to cancel my interview. Can I get a refund?
Cancelation at least 14 days prior to your interview date will result in a full refund. Any cancelations made less than two weeks in advance will result in a $250 administrative fee that will be withheld from your original deposit.
